Chip Design
An Industry Deep Dive: micro-electronics & heterogeneous systems

23 March 2023 at Kennispark Twente, Enschede

This March, some of the Netherlands’ leading experts in chip design will come together for an exclusive one-day networking and knowledge sharing event: Chip Design: An Industry Deep Dive.

Organized by Brainport Eindhoven, ChipTech Twente, High Tech NL Cluster Semiconductors, OostNL, and PhotonDelta, this is your chance to engage directly with peers from across the Dutch chip design industry.

Join internationally-renowned scientists, academics, and industry leaders – including Bram Nauta, Kofi Makinwa and Peter Baltus – as they take you on a journey to 2030: to give you a better perspective on micro-electronics, photonics, microfluidics, and quantum computing.

They’ll also be answering burning questions such as:

  • What will the tech world look like by 2030?
  • Which as-yet unknown products will become available?
  • What do we need from companies to develop and manufacture these inventions?
  • Where could these innovative technologies lead us to?

We’ll also be challenging you to share your perspectives on our national strategic plan, in a dynamic group setting, around 4 key areas of action.

  • Lab to Fab
  • Tech to Market
  • Human Capital
  • Venture Building

Overall, our aim is to identify dilemmas, strengths, and opportunities as we consider what capabilities we need to build here in the Netherlands to make our nation the European center of global chip design.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Roadmap towards heterogeneous systems Tim Tiek
General manager ChipTech Twente
Three prominent scientists will take you on a journey to 2030. What will the world look like by then? What products will there be that do not exist today? The three scientists lead you through their fields of expertise during three presentations followed by an interactive panel discussion.
  • Micro-electronics and heterogeneous systems
Prof.Dr.Ir. Bram Nauta
Professor and head IC design group, University of Twente
  • Sensor interfaces and smart sensors
Prof.Dr.Ir. Kofi Makinwa
Professor and department head Microelectronic Department (Electronic Instrumentation), Delft University of Technology
  • High frequency integrated circuit and system design
Prof.Dr.Ir. Peter Baltus
Professor and chair Mixed-Signal Microelectronics group – Department of Electrical Engineering, Eindhoven University of Technology
  14.00 Coffee Break
From all around the Netherlands, chip design companies will tell us what needs to be done to achieve heterogeneous systems. Who are they, what do they do, what do they see as the biggest opportunities and what dilemmas do we still have to overcome? Join us to listen from the companies’ perspective.
